If you have a fondness for 80's movies or pop culture then you really should be watching the new Netflix series Stranger Things. It stars Winnona Ryder and Matthew Modine and centres on a series of strange disappearances and occurrences in a small Indiana town in the 1980s. This series is an unashamed mash-up of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Poltergeist (1982), The Goonies and pretty much every Stephen King book written during that decade. In short it's every geek's latest guilty pleasure. This is the Steven Spielberg homage J.J. Abrams tried to make with Super 8, but ultimately failed, (personal opinion only). Stranger Things serves up a litany of solid performances and it's plot keeps your attention. It will also give you nostalgic pangs for a decade crammed full of imaginative sci-fi, horror and general geekiness. I mean just look at it's promo poster. Get it watched!
